Position Summary
The Accounting Clerk (Online Auction Specialty) manages high-volume daily financial transactions generated through our digital bidding platform. This role handles the fast-paced cycle of buyer invoice settlement and seller payout distribution. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-transaction e-commerce environment, possesses sharp reconciliation skills, and understands how to track complex multi-party funds (buyers, sellers, and platform commissions).
Core Responsibilities
• Invoicing & Buyer Payments: Generate automated invoices post-auction. Verify and clear payments from multiple digital channels including credit cards, wire transfers, ACH, and digital escrow platforms.
• Seller Payout Settlement: Calculate and process net payouts to consignors and sellers. Ensure accurate deductions for platform listing fees, buyer's premiums, shipping costs, and commissions.
• High-Volume Reconciliation: Perform daily reconciliations between the online auction platform database, payment gateways (e.g., Stripe, PayPal), and the company’s core ledger.
• Dispute & Chargeback Tracking: Monitor, log, and research failed payments, auction cancellations, buyer chargebacks, and refund requests.
• Sales Tax Compliance: Assist in tracking and filing multi-state e-commerce sales tax collected on auctioned goods using tools like Avalara or TaxJar.
• Customer & Consignor Support: Respond professionally to billing, payout, and invoice inquiries from both winning bidders and item consignors.
Required Qualifications & Skills
• Education: High school diploma required; Associate degree in Accounting or Business is highly preferred.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally within e-commerce, retail, or digital marketplaces.
• E-Commerce Technical Skills: Experience with digital payment processors and web-based auction software systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data sorting, pivot tables) is critical for handling large transaction sheets.
• Industry Knowledge: Basic understanding of auction terminology (e.g., reserve pricing, buyer's premium, consignor terms) is a major plus.
• Attention to Detail: Absolute precision in entering numbers to prevent errors in fast-moving payout schedules. ...
